Welcome Message from the Chairman

Congratulations to all ADM members who have volunteered their valuable time and resources to making us a vibrant emerging industry association. Your individual work makes the measurable difference. Your collective insight, blogs, recommendations, criticisms, and solutions, all of it marks the start of a great, functional organization.

Those who ran for positions during the recent election, you are catalytic. Regardless of the results, you kick-started this process and encouraged us with your platforms and ideas. Now we proceed having voted. To the elected, thank you for your commitment to lead and over-deliver on your charge. I hope each member seeks out their own unique and valuable ways to contribute to facilitating the growth of downloadable media.

A lot is riding on our ability to make a difference to publishers, advertisers and all the companies and individuals that operate in between.  This means attention to structural detail, cooperation, a good dose of patience, and learning how best to harness our energies so that our work yields real results, quickly. Our initial focus will include the following initiatives:

  • Build-out our internal operational framework so that we can work from a strong association foundation
  • Drive membership so we have the highest representation within the downloadable media space
  • Partner with organizations that mutually serve our core interests, and
  • Provide and support powerful primary research that demonstrates what we already inherently understand, that the downlodable media space is untapped and filled with sustainable monetization opportunities.

Thank you again for the chance to serve, and look forward to a great period of progress.

    Chris,
Congratulations on your election to chairman. I had no idea I was speaking to a future leader when we talked on the phone last week.

One thought for you and the rest of the ADM leadership: Now that I’ve joined ADM as an individual and am considering participating in a committee, perhaps you could provide a more in-depth explanation of each, including a proposed agenda or goal set, along with a list of worthwhile experience, background, or skill set that may prove valuable within a given committee.

I understand that the titles of the committees seem largely self-explanatory, and you certainly don’t want to discourage anyone from participating based on such parameters, but some additional information might make it easier for me, and hopefully others, to recognize where we can best contribute.

    Thanks for considering it.

Billy, thank you for the well wishes.

More importantly, thanks for the suggestion. We are convening our first elected board member meeting via conference line on Monday December 10 (this coming Monday). The agenda includes having each committee chair recommend and begin vetting the issues that are primary for their subject matter. The way we are proposing this vetting process, each chair will communicate to the larger group (possibly to the members who have expressed interest in the committee) to get everyone’s feedback. What this means is, that you have the ability to influence the agenda at the committee level now by joining. Of course ultimately the list of initiatives will be made available to the larger group. In any event you will shortly get the information you are seeking to make a more informed decision.

Hope this helps explain how we are thinking of getting things done in this department.

    Cheers,
    Chris
