Standards
ADM Terminology Standards Project
The ADM is currently working on a terminology glossary, a sort of Wikipedia for downloadable media. It has started with terms from the Ad Standards and the Measurement proposal documents. To seed the content, descriptions from these documents were used, but clearly more complete definitions are in order. We have also added some other terms that are germane, with a bit deeper description.
The next step is to get others involved—either to review what’s there, or to contribute more (more terms, alternate terms, better definitions). The ADM would love your help with this important work.
Please check out the wiki: http://downloadablemedia.pbwiki.com
You’ll notice that the definition pages include a status indicator. The idea is to show what level of review has been done on each term. The progression is “preliminary”, “submitted”, and “reviewed”. All items are in the “preliminary” state right now, meaning they are not even ready for review. Once the definitions are done, the author will change the status to “submitted”. The committee will then review the terms, and set them to “reviewed” as appropriate.
Work on this wiki is a precursor to other important initiatives being done by the ADM:
(1) Ad Effectiveness Research Study
(2) Analyst Report on Podcasting
(3) State of the Industry: Self-Reported Revenue and Audience in Podcasting
Your help here will have a big impact on these other high-profile efforts. Please consider taking time to participate.
Issued Guidelines and Standards
On July 28, 2008, ADM issued two sets of standards and guidelines: Advertisement Unit Standards and Downloadable Measurement Guidelines.
These guidelines and standards arose from the collaborative effort of our representative committees and an open comment period in which the entire online community was invited to provide feedback and input.
Advertisement Unit Standards
Final Version issued July 28, 2008.
The purpose of the Advertisement Unit Standards is to provide baseline recommendations for advertisement units in order to better facilitate advertising transactions relating to downloadable media.
