Collaborating with the IAB, even minimally

IAB is the organization charged with promoting online advertising. Spending a few minutes on their website you notice no mentions of downloadable media or podcasting. Below are two glaring omissions on the IAB wesbite:

1. The Glossary of Interactive Terms, does not even contain the terms “download” or “podcasting” http://www.iab.net/media/file/Interactive%20Glossary.pdf.

2. Their “Emerging Interactive Platforms” section. There is no mention of Podcasting. Games Advertising, Digital Video and Mobile are called out. http://www.iab.net/iab_products_and_industry_services/1421/1488

As we move towards raising awareness and setting standards it seems prudent to be cognizant of the fact IAB is clearly the organization most familiar to people, and the place advertisers turn to for independent advice and knowledge about the interactive industry. Since there is no reference to “podcasting”, ADM should bring it to their attention and provide some information (and links?) to be made available on the IAB site.

    Murgesh,
Great point. Let’s have David Rowley, Chair of the Terminology Committee work with the IAB to make sure they have the opportunity to reflect the terms we ratify in our global committee deliverables.
Will you be sure to connect with him?
